The rifle range is closed on Saturdays and Mondays during hunting season (starting October 21) and extending into January.

Tuesday through Friday it is open from noon to a half hour before sunset.

Sundays it is open from 9 am to a half hour before sunset unless a sporting clays event is being held and then the range opens at 1 pm.

Please remember that each member is limited to a single guest during this time.

Trap Your Own mirrors the range hours except for Sundays when Trap Your Own starts at noon.

The 3D range will close October 14, 2017 (the weekend before pheasant season) and will remain closed until spring.  The remainder of the range will remain open through the winter. The archery range has received much care and attention this year and is looking really good.  The area has been cleaned of brush, wood chips were spread and new targets added.  Come on out and shoot!

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of David Botsford Lyman, 62, of Meriden, Connecticut.  He passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at 5:18PM in Columbus, Ohio, while visiting his son, Remington Perry Lyman. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deborah Woessner Lyman; brother-in-law Dennis Woessner (Sherrill) of Glastonbury, CT; Douglas Woessner of Anchorage, Alaska; “Grandma” Dolores Woessner; two brothers Wallace and Charles Lyman (Carolyn), and their children.

He was born in Middlefield, Connecticut on June 12, 1955, son of the
late Pearl & Charles Lyman. He was raised in Middlefield, attended the
University of Fairbanks, Alaska (competing on the Varsity Rifle Team)
and then moved to Anchorage, Alaska to study rifle coaching under the
auspices of Robert Hickey. There he met his wife, Deb, a member of the
University of Alaska Anchorage Rifle Team. They married in Anchorage,
and moved to Connecticut so that he could continue coaching riflery
and operate the family business — Blue Trail Range Corporation. His
passion and career revolved around coaching young shooters in
handling firearms in a safe and accurate manner, and operating a small
family business and commercial rifle range — Blue Trail in
Wallingford, Connecticut.  He will be sorely missed.  Please see http://bcbailey.com/tribute/details/1419/David-Lyman/obituary.html#tribute-start

We have seen some pretty good shooting at the Trap Field this month.  In the month of June we have been running a High Line Challenge and tracking the combined score of each squad (or line) of shooters.  On Sunday (Father's Day) we had a squad of shooters attain a combined score of 117.  That means that they, as a group, missed only 8 clay targets out of 125.  The squad consisted of Teymur Kazakov, Randy Whitehouse, John Cristini, Fred Scimone and Todd Jackson.  On Wednesday, June 21 we witnessed Dave Guandalini shoot 100 straight clay targets.  That's the first 100 patch issued in recent memory.  We also had our first female shooter, Tori Williams, earn a 25 patch.  Congratulations everyone!
